At Lumina Health, medicine is more than a science — it is a calling. Dr. Monica V. Villegas brings over 25 years of clinical experience and an unwavering commitment to individualized care. Her philosophy: every patient deserves to be heard, and every treatment plan should be as unique as the person it serves.
She earned her Doctor of Osteopathy from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and a B.A. in Chemistry from New York University. She completed her Family Medicine residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, NY, where she graduated as Chief Resident.
Her career has spanned community health centers in Connecticut, hospital wards in New Orleans, and intensive care units in Tucson. As a hospitalist, she has managed complex acute conditions, guided families through difficult decisions, and provided General Inpatient Hospice care. She holds Board Certification in Family Medicine and an Added Qualification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Women’s health has been a constant thread throughout her career — from preventive services and gynecologic procedures to her current focus on the advances reshaping the field. She is bringing this expertise to the Tucson community through Lumina Health in a way that is personalized and empowering.
This passion is personal. Her mother lives with end-stage Alzheimer’s disease — an illness she believes could have been prevented had more research been dedicated to the factors affecting women across all stages of life, particularly perimenopause and menopause. Her mother’s decline has deepened her conviction that women deserve better answers, earlier.
She has since pursued training and certifications in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and modalities to support women’s health at every stage. She could not help her mother, but she is determined that this knowledge will not come too late for the women who come to Lumina Health — and hopes to give patients and their families more time together.
Lumina Health was born from a shared vision: a space where patients are never rushed or reduced to a chart. Together with her colleagues, she has built a practice where the patient always comes first — one that takes time to understand not just symptoms, but the whole person.
As a bilingual Spanish-English provider, she is rooted in the Tucson community and committed to culturally competent care. She understands that trust is earned through presence, patience, and genuine partnership.
Lumina reflects the light we hope to bring to every person’s life and health. At Lumina Health, you will find a provider who sees you — not just your diagnosis. A partner who listens, who cares, and who is committed to illuminating a path toward your best health.
Daniela Lopez-Gallego, BSN, RN
Founder & Provider, Lumina Health | Tucson, AZ
Daniela Lopez-Gallego, BSN, RN, is a bilingual registered nurse and AGACNP candidate with extensive experience in neurology, medical-surgical, and acute care nursing, as well as prior healthcare business ownership. She has served as a Charge Nurse in high-acuity hospital settings, a travel nurse across multiple acute care facilities, a care coordinator in skilled nursing, and is currently Clinical Faculty at Grand Canyon University while completing full-time AGACNP clinical training at Tucson Medical Center. Drawing on this broad background, Daniela brings a rare blend of bedside expertise, leadership, and entrepreneurial vision to Lumina Health.
Daniela is currently pursuing her Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree with the goal of specializing in women’s health, a calling deeply inspired by her mother, who passed away from cancer. Her mother’s journey—and the belief that she might have survived if more research and understanding around women’s bodies had been prioritized—drives Daniela’s commitment to change how women are cared for. Her passion is to advocate for and educate women so they feel informed, empowered, and heard at every stage of life. Leaving a legacy of stronger, more knowledgeable women and more responsive healthcare is at the heart of her mission.
Over the years, Daniela has founded and operated a medical spa, managed clinical operations, and overseen patient care and business development, giving her firsthand insight into both the clinical and business sides of healthcare. The idea of starting Lumina Health was never about becoming a millionaire, but about creating a space where patient care comes before corporate metrics. For Daniela, autonomy in clinical decision-making—rather than rigid, top-down guidelines—is essential to truly individualized care. At Lumina Health, she is dedicated to building a practice where patients are seen, known, and cared for as whole people, and where every visit reflects the light and legacy that inspired its name.
Ramin Milani, MD
Internal Medicine
Primary Care Physician, Lumina Health | Tucson, AZ
Dr. Ramin Milani is a board‑certified internal medicine physician with more than 35 years of experience caring for patients in hospital, clinic, and skilled nursing settings. Trained at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in New York, he has practiced primary care in southern Arizona since 2004 and is known for his calm, thorough, and thoughtful clinical approach. Patients and families have long asked if he has “his own office,” a reflection of the trust he consistently earns through careful listening, detailed evaluations, and clear, compassionate explanations.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Milani has worked in diverse and demanding environments, including rural family practice, emergency medicine, intensive care, and complex inpatient care. He is recognized for his in‑depth assessments and his ability to see beyond a single symptom or protocol to understand the full clinical picture. In the skilled nursing facilities he serves, his diligent work ethic, close follow‑up, and unwavering advocacy for true patient care have helped maintain a 5‑star standard of quality.
He has finally chosen to practice as a concierge direct primary care physician because modern medicine has become dominated by rigid protocols and insurance requirements, instead of honoring the complexity of the human body and allowing physicians true autonomy in clinical decision‑making. In this model, Dr. Milani is free to spend the time each patient truly needs, focus on prevention and early detection, and build meaningful, long‑term relationships without the constraints of rushed, insurance‑driven visits. For the many patients who have asked if he would ever have a practice of his own, the answer is now yes—through concierge direct primary care, they can partner with a physician who knows them, advocates for them, and walks with them through every stage of health and illness.
